by Editor on 9th November, 2008 07:36 AM (justcreativedesign.com)

Designer In The Spotlight (DITS) is a weekly feature that I run every Sunday (or more) to help particular individuals in the design community get their name ‘out there’ and to educate the community as a whole. It is a series of questions that asks the designer about themselves and their job as a designer. If you would like to be featured in an upcoming DITS post fill out the form here.

Illustrated Part 6 - Web Design
by Editor on 8th November, 2008 05:37 AM (designmeltdown.com)

The samples collected for this category were chosen because they use illustration as a means to make their site stand out. Many of the sites below would be unmemorable if they had not included the illustrations. Others are completely developed around the illustration. Only a few of them are for portfolios which actually sell them, which I figured wasn't the most inventive idea.

A good starting point for planning the future of your website is to analyze what you already have. To some extent we are doing this all the time. That is how new projects happen. However, a more formal approach helps to better inform your decision-making throughout the web project.

Image Caption Design: Simply Elegant or Boldly Graphic?
by Editor on 6th November, 2008 11:08 AM (www.smashingmagazine.com)
Image captions are an often-overlooked element of Web design. They’re often thought of more in terms of function than form. As long as they include the proper photo credits or identifying information about the image subject, not much more thought is given to them.
